The Opportunity

We're seeking an experienced Bitumen (Gangbar) Sprayer Operator to join our Maintenance Reseals Crew based out of Auckland.

In the role, you’ll be responsible for operating spray bars attached to bitumen distribution trucks to apply precise layers of bitumen during chip sealing operations. You’ll work alongside a dedicated crew, helping to create safe surfaces for motorists across the Auckland network.

In addition to the above you will

  • Drive the Bitumen Gangbar Sprayer Truck and be the passenger Spray Person when/as required.
  • Monitor spray rates, coverage, and adjust equipment as required for optimal results.
  • Follow all safety protocols and work collaboratively with team members.
  • Conduct cleaning and pre-inspection checks for the sprayer to ensure plant is running at optimal performance.
  • Report any hazards or equipment issues to the supervisor without delay.
  • Work closely and communicate with your chip seal crew members to ensure good coordination of the sealing process.
  • Perform labouring duties as/when required.

We’re looking for someone with

  • Must have experience as a Bitumen Sprayer/Operator (3-5 years ideally)
  • Hold a minimum Class 2 NZ driver’s licence, Class 4 is ideal
  • Dangerous Goods and WTR endorsement are ideal
  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Confident using devices such as iPads, laptops

This is a permanent, full-time position. Hourly wage can range between $27.00 to $38.00 per hour + penal rates, pending on experience. The position title will be officially Specialist Operator.
