Job summary

Department of Conservation NZ – Waikato District is seeking a Ranger Biodiversity to plan, manage and deliver biodiversity programmes protecting indigenous species and ecosystems. The role focuses on coordinating projects, mentoring team members, and collaborating with iwi, communities and stakeholders to achieve conservation outcomes.

The position is predominantly office-based with some field engagement, based in Thames from the Hauraki District Office, offering permanent, full-time employment

Qualifications

• Experience in leading biodiversity or conservation projects.
• Strong project management and delivery experience.

Responsibilities

• Manage and lead biodiversity projects and work programs.
• Coordinate, plan and deliver conservation projects across the district.
• Build team capability and mentor others.
• Engage with iwi, communities and stakeholders for conservation outcomes.
• Ensure work complies with legislation and departmental procedures.
• Lead animal pest control operations and reporting.
