Job summary

Department of Conservation in Thames seeks a Ranger Biodiversity to lead biodiversity programmes, manage conservation projects, and mentor a multidisciplinary team. The role focuses on planning, coordination, stakeholder engagement, and programme delivery, with office-based duties and some field activity.

You will work with iwi, communities, and partners to achieve positive biodiversity outcomes while complying with legislation and departmental requirements. A NZ Driver Licence is required.

Qualifications

• Experience delivering biodiversity programmes and conservation projects.
• Proven project management experience.
• Knowledge of relevant legislation and compliance requirements.
• Knowledge of species management and habitat restoration.
• Strong communication and relationship-building with iwi and communities.
• Demonstrated leadership and mentoring abilities.

Responsibilities

• Manage and lead biodiversity projects and work programs.
• Develop and deliver conservation projects.
• Mentor and develop team capabilities.
• Ensure work complies with legislation and procedures.
• Lead animal pest control operations including planning, delivery, monitoring and reporting.
• Build partnerships with iwi and stakeholders to achieve shared outcomes.
• Collaborate with internal and external partners to deliver district-wide projects.
