The Big Buddy relationship offers friendship, support and a good male role model. Big Buddies turn up, spend time with their Little Buddy and come back again and again, its simple, and it works.

The Little Buddies gain self-confidence, self-worth, willingness to try new things, happiness and a deep sense of being seen. They also make better life choices. And the Big Buddies get a lot of enjoyment and immense satisfaction from knowing they are able to have a positive impact on a boys life.

Requirements
  • Generally, men who apply are in their early 20's to late 60's, have time to regularly spend a few hours a week, especially at weekends, with the Little Buddy, have a car and a full license, and permanent residency or NZ citizenship.
Screening and Interview Process

As the safety and happiness of all our Little Buddies is paramount to our success, all men who apply go through a comprehensive screening process. However, dont be put off. By being thorough, we can ensure that you are right for Big Buddy and that we are right for you.

The process takes about 6-8 weeks from when you attend an induction evening. There are several steps within this process, including character reference checks, a police check, a home interview and an interview with one of our clinical assessors.

Please remember, we arent looking for a superhero. We are simply looking for good guys from our community who care. We hope to hear from you soon.
