Job summary

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Inspect and maintain bee colonies, monitoring for signs of disease or hive issues.
  • Assist with expansion of apiaries by swarming, splitting and establishing new colonies.
  • Perform tasks such as feeding, treating and managing the hives.
  • Maintain detailed records of colony health, productivity and honey yields.
  • Collaborate to implement best practices in sustainable beekeeping.
  • Carry out building, yard and hive maintenance as required.

We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Beekeeper to join our team at Hantz Honey in Leeston, Canterbury. As a Beekeeper, you will play a crucial role in maintaining and growing our thriving apiaries, ensuring the health and productivity of our honey bee colonies. This is a full-time position, offering the opportunity to work in a rewarding and environmentally-focused industry.

What you'll be doing

Inspect and maintain bee colonies, monitoring for signs of disease or hive issues

Contribute to the expansion of our apiaries by helping with swarming, splitting, and the establishment of new colonies

Perform essential beekeeping tasks such as feeding, treating, and managing the hives

Maintain detailed records of colony health, productivity, and honey yields

Collaborate with the team to implement best practices in sustainable and \"good practice\" beekeeping

To carry out building, yard and hive maintenance work as required.

What we're looking for

Previous experience as a Beekeeper in a commercial or semi-commercial environment
