Job summary

Thinkproject is seeking a Database Administrator (f/m/d) in Auckland to join the Systems Engineering team. You will support Azure SQL environments, monitor health, and collaborate with senior members to advance cloud database skills in a global setting.

The role emphasizes automation, schema collaboration, backups, and on-call learning. Fluent English required; hybrid work setup and international team environment offered.

Qualifications

• Experience in managing Azure SQL environments in production
• Able to monitor DB health using Azure Monitor and metrics
• Experience with backups, restore, and recovery planning
• Familiarity with security, logins, roles, and least-privilege principles
• Cooperation with development teams on schema changes
• Experience with automation via T-SQL and PowerShell

Responsibilities

• Support day-to-day administration of Azure SQL Database and Azure SQL Managed Instance environments under guidance
• Monitor database health with Azure Monitor, Metrics, and Query Performance Insight
• Assist with performance investigations by reviewing execution plans and optimizing queries
• Execute backups and restores using Azure Backup and automated policies
• Participate in regular recovery testing and patching in non-prod environments
• Collaborate with developers on schema reviews and deployments
• Develop automation with T-SQL scripts and PowerShell to reduce manual tasks
• Maintain runbooks, backup schedules, and incident logs
• Contribute to cost monitoring and scaling opportunities
