Civil Aviation Authority of New Zealand is hiring Aviation Security Officers for Queenstown Airport on permanent full-time contracts, offering $72,187 per year with a start date of 15 February 2027. Training runs 15 Feb 2027 to 16 Apr 2027, with full training in Christchurch and accommodation provided.

Successful candidates will join a fast-paced frontline team and follow a 6 days on, 3 days off roster including nights and weekends, contributing to safe airport operations and the wider aviation

Qualifications

• Be a New Zealand citizen, Australian citizen, or New Zealand resident.
• Be medically fit and willing to undergo a medical assessment.
• Successfully complete background checks, including reference and police vetting.
• Be comfortable in a fast-paced, noisy environment that requires sustained concentration.
• Be flexible and adaptable to shift changes.
• Be available to work a rostered pattern of 6 days on, 3 days off, including nights, weekends and public holidays.
• Be available to attend an assessment centre and interview on 21 or 22 October 2026.

Responsibilities

• Screening passengers and baggage using specialised security equipment.
• Conducting mobile, foot, and static patrols throughout the airport environment.
• Monitoring access to secure areas and verifying identification credentials.
• Identifying, preventing, and responding to potential security breaches.
• Supporting safe airport operations through observation, communication, and rapid response.
• Working closely with colleagues and other airport stakeholders to resolve issues and maintain security.
