Job summary

Teradyne-based Quantifi Photonics in Auckland seeks an experienced Automation Engineer for the NPI group within Engineering to develop and deploy automated test and calibration systems across product development and manufacturing.

The role focuses on automating test workflows, calibrations, and integration of lab and production instrumentation to improve quality, efficiency, and measurement capability. 5+ years in automation and strong collaboration skills are required.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Computer/Photonics or related field.
Minimum 5 years' experience developing automated test or calibration systems.
Experience developing and supporting automated manufacturing test systems.
Experience with electronic and optical test instrumentation.
Strong analytical, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Experience in product development, NPI or manufacturing.
Experience using Git and Jira for source control and issue tracking.
Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

Develop, maintain and improve automated test and calibration systems using Python and related tools.
Design and implement calibration methodologies and automated test workflows for new products.
Integrate laboratory and manufacturing instrumentation into automated test systems.
Develop and maintain test system software, hardware configurations and documentation.
Analyze product requirements to determine manufacturing test and calibration needs.
Develop calibration plans, test procedures and acceptance criteria.
Support DVT, PVT and production qualification activities.
Ensure test stations and training materials are ready prior to product release.
Conduct station validation, qualification and acceptance before deployment into Manufacturing.
Support investigations into calibration issues, test failures and yield concerns.
Analyze production and calibration data to identify improvements in yield, quality and efficiency.
Support MSA, R&R and measurement uncertainty investigations as required.
Deliver technical training and support to Manufacturing and Engineering teams.
Provide technical leadership and mentoring to engineers and technicians.
Drive continuous improvement to reduce test time and increase throughput.
