We are seeking an experienced audit director to take over the leadership reins of a team of ten in a highly respected business advisory and accountancy firm with a global footprint. Baker Tilly Staples Rodway Hawkes Bay, although locally owned and operated, is part of New Zealand and international networks with global connections, has their feet firmly planted here in Hawke’s Bay. Locally their expertise is deep, and the culture is collaborative. With a team of close to 50 professionals, including auditors, HR advisors, and business consultants, they deliver trusted advice and meaningful impact for their clients and their own people.
You will join a leadership team of six Directors based in Hawke’s Bay. As the sole audit director, you will oversee the delivery of high-quality external audit and assurance services to a diverse portfolio of clients, ranging from commercial entities, FMCs, not for profit, education and everything in between. You’ll own the lead role locally in building and maintaining trusted client relationships, ensuring their audit services are compliant with regulatory standards but also tailored to meet each client’s unique needs. You will have oversight of the 10 people in the audit team - reviewing and ensuring performance across their work and driving a culture of client engagement. You will also be part of a national audit practice and work collaboratively with audit directors and team members from other Baker Tilly Staples Rodway offices across New Zealand.
This role reports to the managing director. You will sit in the leadership team and contribute to the strategic direction of the firm. NZ audit expertise and senior level experience leading audit teams in public practice firms is essential. You will be registered as a Qualified Auditor and ideally as a Licensed Auditor. You need to be natural team leader and be confident in securing client relationships and ensuring robust and effective auditing processes across this significant portfolio.
