A leading academic institution in New Zealand is seeking an Associate Professor who will excel in teaching, engage actively in research, and mentor colleagues. The position requires a Doctorate/PhD and evidence of contributions to the academic community, curriculum development, and student success. The Associate Professor will also lead initiatives impacting educational policies and academic standards.
Associate Professor
The Associate Professor is an established academic who demonstrates excellence in teaching, maintains active engagement in research, and provides guidance and mentorship to colleagues. This role requires proven teaching expertise, curriculum development experience, and recognized research contributions. Associate Professors will have a Doctorate/PhD in a related field, or equivalent academic standing.
Using the Table of Progressions as your reference, compile and attach evidence that demonstrates your qualifications and achievements in support of your application for promotion to Associate Professor. Please ensure your documentation substantiates how you meet or exceed the required criteria for this academic advancement.
Teaching and Learning
Provide academic leadership in terms of teaching, learning and content development.
Provide research-informed input into subject specific information and resources.
Lead the review and quality assurance of courses and programmes.
Programme Design and Development
Leads curriculum design, providing research and industry informed advice to shape the development and design of programmes.
Professional Development
Research areas of significance that contribute to the growth of knowledge in specific area of expertise.
Research
Either a PBRF rating of at least a B in the most recent round, or equivalent evidence of research quality and contribution as demonstrated through an independent assessment of research output
Outputs published in peer-reviewed journals and/or peer-reviewed and creative or practice-based work as recognised by PBRF panel guidelines or other established research assessment frameworks endorsed by Whitecliffe.
Support other researchers to develop research capabilities.
Provide leadership in the research environment at an institutional and national level.
Supervise and provide leadership in co-supervised student research
Contribution to Academic Community
Provides support, guidance and research-informed advice for programme and institute-wide initiatives.
Contribute to and have a significant reputation in related industry and communities locally and nationally.
Actively contribute to the provision of appropriate academic standards and in the development of educational policy, pedagogy, and teaching practice.
