Job summary

Mastercard is hiring an Associate Managing Consultant for Advisors & Consulting Services, Performance Analytics on a 12 months fixed term. The role is based in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea / Fiji and focuses on delivering data-driven insights for a large card migration program with Mastercard's client.

You will work with cross-functional teams to design, implement and scale analytical solutions using Mastercard data assets.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree with data and analytics experience in BI and/or descriptive, predictive, or prescriptive analytics.
• Experience managing clients or internal stakeholders.
• Ability to analyse large datasets and provide recommendations.
• Strong attention to detail and analytical rigour with deadline-driven work.
• Knowledge of metrics and benchmarking across multiple industries.
• Experience with data analytics software (SQL, Python, R) and building databases.

Services within Mastercard is responsible for acquiring, engaging, and retaining customers by managing fraud and risk, enhancing cybersecurity, and improving the digital payments experience. We provide value-added services and leverage expertise, data-driven insights, and execution. Our Advisors & Consulting Services team combines traditional management consulting with Mastercard's rich data assets, proprietary platforms, and technologies to provide clients with powerful strategic insights and recommendations. Our teams work with a diverse global customer base across industries, from banking and payments to retail and restaurants.

The Advisors & Consulting Services group has five specialisations: Strategy & Transformation, Performance Analytics, Business Experimentation, Marketing, and Program Management. Our Performance Analytics consultants translate data into insights by leveraging Mastercard and customer data to design, implement, and scale analytical solutions for customers. They use qualitative and quantitative analytical techniques and enterprise applications to synthesise analyses into clear recommendations and impactful narratives.

Roles and Responsibilities

This is a hands-on fixed term role based in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea/Fiji to support a large card migration program with one of Mastercard's key clients.

The role sits within a large, complex transformation initiative and is focused on delivering data-driven insight to enable clear, timely and compliant migration of client's scheme cards to Mastercard.

The role will work closely with cross functional program teams in customer organisation and internally in Mastercard to ensure customer expectations are effectively managed and expected insights and outputs are prepared timely for the migration.

Key Responsibilities

Client Impact

• Manage deliverable development and workstreams in a payments or financial services context (requires experience with credit/debit cards, BINs, migration programs, regulatory context)
• Contribute to and/or develop analytics strategies and programs for large, local client by leveraging data and technology solutions to unlock client value
• Manage working relationship with client managers, and act as trusted and reliable partner
• May be required to create predictive models using segmentation and regression techniques to drive profits
• Review analytics end-products to ensure accuracy, quality and timeliness.
• Proactively seek new knowledge and structure project work to facilitate the capture of Intellectual Capital with minimal oversight

• Develop sound business recommendations and deliver effective client presentations
• Plan, organise, and structure own work to identify effective analysis structures to address client problems and synthesise analyses into relevant findings

Qualifications

Basic qualifications

• Undergraduate degree with data and analytics experience in business intelligence and/or descriptive, predictive, or prescriptive analytics
• Experience managing clients or internal stakeholders
• Ability to analyse large datasets and synthesise key findings to provide recommendations via descriptive analytics and business intelligence
• Strong attention to detail and analytical rigour, with ability to hit the ground running
• Knowledge of metrics, measurements, and benchmarking to complex and demanding solutions across multiple industry verticals
• Data and analytics experience such as working with data analytics software (e.g. SQL Databases (preferred), languages like SQL, Python, R) and building, managing, and maintaining database structures
• Advanced Word, Excel, and PowerPoint skills
• Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
• Ability to communicate effectively in English and the local office language (if applicable)

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working with data visualisation tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI)
• Additional data analytics experience working with big data ecosystems like Hadoop and coding using Impala, Hive, or PySpark
• Experience managing tasks or workstreams in a collaborative team environment
• Experience coaching junior delivery consultants
• Banking industry expertise
