Job summary

A consulting engineering firm in Wellington is seeking an experienced Associate Director of Structures to lead the Building Structures Team. Responsibilities include project management, client engagement, and teaching technical development to junior engineers. Associate Director Structures - Wellington

Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership to the Building Structures Team within the Property and Buildings Sector.
  • Support the Head of Structures in the delivery of the business plan and wider strategic goals of the Property and Buildings Sector.
  • Have a passion for client engagement, develop and maintain strong client relationships, pursue and secure new business opportunities.
  • Assist with the technical development of Structural Engineers based primarily in Auckland though extended to other offices including Regional Business offices when required.
  • Act as the Project Manager/Director on projects as assigned, ensuring that all deliverables meet client’s key objectives.
  • Provide leadership to project teams, ensuring that projects are completed on time, within budget and to the required quality to achieve the planned profit.
  • Manage projects, including the provision of timely and clear reports to clients, preparation of invoices, and appropriate use of accounting, record, and quality management systems.
  • Plan and organise Buildings engineering tasks, coordinate and control activities including those of other groups to achieve technical quality, budget, programme, and client satisfaction.
  • Provide advice to the structures group on training requirements, resourcing, quality assurance and deliverables.
About You
  • A tertiary qualification in an area related to Structural Engineering and/or Project Delivery
  • Chartered Professional Engineering (CPEng) status or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in Buildings engineering, including extensive seismic experience
  • Extensive senior project management experience with a strong commercial focus
  • Experience developing client pipelines and prospects across the industry/sector
  • Proven experience of developing effective relationships with clients.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage teams
