Job summary

Fairfield Intermediate in Waikato, New Zealand, seeks an Assistant Principal to join our Senior Leadership Team and lead curriculum across Years 1–8 while supporting student pastoral care.

The successful candidate will show strong leadership with curriculum design expertise, Structured Literacy knowledge, and culturally responsive practices, collaborating with staff, students and families to uphold our school values.

Qualifications

• Must be NZ registered and eligible to teach in NZ.

We are seeking an assistant principal to join our senior leadership team. The successful candidate will have a proven record of effective leadership with the ability to lead curriculum within the school and support the pastoral care of students.

The ideal candidate will:

• have successful experience working with emerging adolescents in a multicultural environment
• have strong curriculum knowledge and an in-depth understanding of current pedagogy, including in the area of Structured Literacy
• be culturally responsive and will embrace and demonstrate our school values of whanaungatanga, manaakitanga and kaitiakitanga
• work collaboratively as part of the Senior Leadership Team and build strong positive relationships with all of our school community
• have the ability to coach and mentor staff in pedagogy
• have a professional work ethic and work collaboratively and professionally with all stakeholders
• have excellent organisational skills and be an innovative and forward-thinking educator.

Additional fixed-term units may be available for the successful candidate. Applicants must be NZ registered teachers. The position will commence at the beginning of Term 1, 2027 or by negotiation.
