About the role

We have an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Manager - Breeder Workshop at our Intercrop farm based in New Plymouth.

In this role, you'll take ownership of managing SOPs, driving Health, Safety & Environment initiatives, and ensuring compliance across operations. A key part of the role will include overseeing permits to work and ensuring all requirements are in place before maintenance work begins.

You'll play an important role in keeping our systems safe, compliant, and well-documented, while supporting the smooth running of day-to-day operations. Success in this role requires excellent planning ability, a strong mechanical mindset, and a genuine interest in livestock operations

What your day may look like:

  • Carrying out preventative maintenance inspections and lubrication to prevent breakdowns.
  • Monitoring farm equipment performance against historical data and manufacturer recommendations, liaising with farm personnel to diagnose and resolve potential issues.
  • Partnering with EHS to maintain housekeeping, environmental, and quality standards.
  • Responding quickly to prioritise maintenance needs and minimise downtime.
  • Assisting with the planning and scheduling of bird moves, shed turnarounds, and breakdowns.
  • Supporting continuous improvement initiatives, solving technical challenges, and identifying smarter, safer, or more efficient ways of working.
