Position Overview

This position is part of the H-Cloud Unix team, providing subscribed services for Unix/ Linux OS 24 x 7 administration and support. They are expected to be a team player, contributing to both operations and project support.

Role & Responsibilities
  • Responsible for the administration and maintenance of Linux servers, RedHat Virtualization and Ansible, to:
  • Provide day-to-day systems administration and operations, including 24 x 7 standby
  • Plan and perform installation, configuration and migration of OS and related hardware and software
  • Plan and perform scheduled preventive maintenance, OS patching/upgrades/hardening, after-office hours
  • Troubleshoot incidents, system problems and handle escalations to vendors
  • Provide system performance tuning, optimization and capacity planning
  • Automate tasks and workflows, through shell, Ansible, Python, Ruby scripts and programming, including provisioning / deprovisioning of Virtual Machines (VMs), patching, configurations, software deployment, monitoring and integration with other tools
  • Establish, standardize and maintain systems backup that is in line with recovery strategy
  • Establish, standardize and maintain best practice processes, procedures, system documentation and reports so as to streamline and enhance the operational environment
  • Provide technical support and advice for projects
  • Fulfil service requests and change requests
  • Proactively contribute to continual improvement programs
  • Work/collaborate with other teams and vendors, where applicable
  • Provide progress reports and to escalate issues to supervisor
  • Work with various teams (VMWare, NetBackup, & hardware) as needed to support the infrastructure
  • Keep abreast of new technologies and its applicability to their area of work
Requirements
  • Strong technical knowledge and experience in administration and maintenance of Linux(RedHat Linux/SUSE/CentOS) including:
    • Clustering (Pacemaker cluster)
    • Oracle KVM (oVirt)
    • Openshift knowledge
    • Ansible automation platform with ability to write playbooks
    • Storage Admin/SAN technology, in particular, from System perspective
    • System and network security, including use of RBAC
    • SSH/SFTP/SSL
    • DR implementation
    • Shell Scripting (Unix shell) Ansible, Python and/or Ruby will be an added advantage
    • Knowledge of containers, Kubernetes and DevOps, Web servers, Tomcat will be an added advantage
  • Certifications in the above administration skills will be an added advantage
  • Ability to prioritize assignments while working on multiple projects
  • Good security, audit, and compliance knowledge
  • Good team player who is highly motivated, independent, goal oriented and possesses workplace initiative
  • Good interpersonal, communications and presentation skills (verbal/written)
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills, with attention to details
  • At least 6 years\' experience in the administration of Linux Servers in an enterprise environment
  • Working experience in most of the technical areas described above, if not all, is required
  • Experience in project management, design and deployment of IT infrastructure solution will be an added advantage
