Job summary

Huka Lodge is seeking an Assistant Groundskeeper to join our close-knit team on site in New Zealand. You will assist in managing 8 acres of gardens and support the Head Groundsman in daily garden maintenance.

The role requires proficiency with irrigation software, safe chemical handling, and attention to detail. You will help train new staff and maintain a clean, safe work environment in the lodge grounds.

Responsibilities

• Managing all lodge lawns including being proficient in the software required to control the irrigation system
• Conduct garden tours as requested
• Assist the Head Groundsman in the maintenance of all lodge gardens
• Proficient in the use of chemicals, sprays and the safe handling of such substances
• Assist with the training of new staff members in the department
• Maintain effective communication and attention to detail as part of the Huka Lodge team
• Maintain a clean working environment around the lodge, ensuring equipment is used correctly
• Ensure procedures reference security, Health & Safety and fire procedures are followed at all times
• Plant and weed in gardens and grounds as directed

• To be proficient in the use of chemicals, sprays and the safe handling of such substances
• To assist with the training of new staff members in the department
• To be an efficient part of the Huka Lodge team by maintaining effective communication and by practising “attention to detail”
• Maintain a clean working environment around the lodge, ensuring all equipment is used in the correct manner
• To ensure correct procedures with reference to security, Health & Safety and fire procedures are adhered to at all times
• Plant and weed in gardens and grounds as directed
