Job description
The Organisation

The Role

Reporting to the Financial Controller, this position forms a part of the Finance Department. This position is responsible for preparing monthly accounts, including all balance sheet reconciliation, and assisting with regular forecasting. In addition, this role will maintain and manage financial reporting requirements and returns with IRD. This role supports the wider Finance Department in administering and overseeing expenditure in accordance with company objectives, strategic goals and compliance requirements.

As the Assistant Accountant, you will be responsible for the following:

  • Accurately producing month end reporting requirements for Civtec and other group entities, including Month-end journals, accruals, prepayments, fixed asset register
  • Completing timely financial reporting and analysis as well as supporting stakeholder reviews
  • Producing accurate and timely balance sheet reconciliations
  • Completing Bi-monthly GST returns
  • Leading and supporting the Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable functions in day to day operation, performing these duties where needed
  • Completing the Payroll function, ensuring compliance and best practice
  • Complete regular bank reconciliations, cash appropriation and load bank payments
  • Seek opportunity to improve and enhance internal processes
  • Escalate issues, as appropriate, to the manager.
  • Complete administrative tasks to a high standard.
  • Actively communicate and escalate issues with all stakeholders to provide accurate information/identify concerns in a timely manner.
  • Undertake other tasks to support the overall Civtec business as required from time to time.

To be successful in this role, we are seeking candidates with:

  • Minimum three years experience in similar role
  • Intermedial to Advanced computer skills in using a variety of computer software (Dynamics 365 preferred)
  • Sound understanding of accounting principles and practices
  • Knowledge of payroll legislation (preferred)
