Job summary

Matamata-Piako District Council is seeking an experienced Assets Compliance Officer to lead compliance monitoring across our infrastructure portfolio. You will coordinate audits, manage consent conditions, and prepare regulatory reports to ensure services are safe, compliant and environmentally responsible.

Reporting to the Infrastructure Strategy and Asset Management Team Leader, you will work with engineers, asset managers and regulators to identify risks, drive corrective actions, and deliver

Qualifications

• 3+ years' relevant industry experience in environmental compliance.
• Knowledge of environmental compliance and regulatory frameworks.
• Experience interpreting legislation, consent conditions, and compliance obligations.
• Strong analytical skills with monitoring data and reporting.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills.
• Relevant qualification in engineering, science, planning, or environmental management.

Responsibilities

• Lead compliance monitoring programmes and coordinate audits and site investigations.
• Maintain consent condition registers and compliance records.
• Prepare regulatory reports and liaise with regulators.
• Coordinate environmental monitoring and reporting.
• Investigate environmental incidents and ensure regulatory notifications.
• Identify emerging compliance risks and propose practical actions.
• Collaborate with asset managers, engineers and contractors to achieve compliance outcomes.
