Job summary

Fulton Hogan in Tauranga is seeking an experienced Asphalt Leading Hand to join our team. This hands-on role requires keeping a crew moving, maintaining high standards, and ensuring the job runs smoothly from site setup to final finish.

You will deliver Good Work safely, efficiently and to a high standard, working alongside your crew to manage varying site conditions and maintain quality across asphalt laying, compaction, and finish.

Qualifications

• Proven asphalt paving experience, including leading or guiding crews on active sites.
• Current Class 2 licence minimum, with WTR endorsements.
• Strong knowledge of asphalt laying, compaction, levels, joints, finish quality, and safe work practices.
• Ability to coordinate people, plant, trucks and changing site conditions calmly.

Responsibilities

• Support daily workflow on site and help the team deliver work safely, on time, and to a high standard.
• Complete asphalt labouring and machine operating tasks, including equipment checks, material handling, and maintaining a clean and tidy site.
• Take part in pre-starts, understand hazards and controls, and follow all safety, environmental and quality requirements.
• Operate machinery and tools safely and only when trained, competent and licensed to do so.
• Help guide less experienced team members and step into the Foreperson's role when required.
• Proven asphalt paving experience, including leading or guiding crews on active sites.
