Eurofins Environment Testing Australia New Zealand is a network of fully accredited laboratories with over 200 staff. Our labs are located in Sydney, Melbourne, Perth, Brisbane, Auckland, and Christchurch, with client service offices in Adelaide, Darwin, Newcastle, and Wollongong. We provide field sampling services from Melbourne and Sydney, specializing in environmental analysis such as soil, sludge, sediments, water, air, and emissions testing.

Job Description

We are seeking a Laboratory Analyst - ASBESTOS (mid level) to join our Christchurch team on a permanent full-time basis. The role focuses on laboratory operations, maintaining accreditation, and participating in quality assurance improvements.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Performing bulk identification, asbestos in soil analysis (P/A and S/Q), and fibre counting.
  • Maintaining equipment and compliance systems according to ISO standards.
  • Adhering to ISO17025:2018 standards at all times.
  • Assisting with technical and quality tasks.
  • Mentoring internal staff through training.
  • Participating in proficiency testing programs and ensuring satisfactory results.

Qualifications and experience:

  • Tertiary qualification in Science or equivalent, or relevant experience.
  • Must have experience analyzing asbestos materials — bulk, fibre counting, and soil analysis.
  • At least two years of laboratory experience; experience in a commercial lab is advantageous.
  • Attention to detail and proficient computer skills are essential.
  • Good knowledge of MS Word and Excel.
  • Strong commitment to safety and continuous learning.
