A local government authority in Stratford is seeking an Aquatic Services Manager to lead the operations of the Stratford Aquatic Centre. This full-time role involves supervising teams, ensuring a safe environment, and enhancing community engagement through aquatic programs. The ideal candidate will have experience in managing facilities, excellent communication skills, and a passion for community wellbeing. The salary ranges from $110,000 to $120,000 per annum, depending on experience.

Stratford District Council is on the hunt for a dynamic and driven individual to lead the day-to-day operations of this busy hub, ensuring it remains a safe, inclusive, and welcoming space for all.
You'll oversee everything from team leadership and customer experience to health and safety, budgeting, facility maintenance, and programme delivery. Working alongside a team of coordinators across lifeguarding, aquatic education, fitness, and customer service, you will ensure our offerings stay fresh, engaging, and well-utilised - while bringing your own ideas to grow and enhance the facility.

Flexibility with work hours will be required due to the facility's operational hours, and some weekend work may be required.
This position is full time (40 hours per week) and is located at Wai-O-Rua - Stratford Aquatic Centre, Portia Street, Stratford. The salary range for this position is $110,000 to $120,000 per annum with the appointed starting level dependent on the skills and experience of the candidate.

You'll bring experience managing recreation or aquatic facilities and leading teams in a customer-facing environment. Strong communication, problem-solving, and organisational skills are a must, along with a focus on safety and service quality.
Being a confident communicator, you will have the ability to build strong relationships with customers, staff and stakeholders. You are personable, approachable and resilient, with the ability to be calm, composed, and optimistic in high pressure situations. As an active problem-solver you will seek opportunities to develop and grow the aquatic programmes and have a commitment to continuous improvement.
While not essential, previous lifeguarding experience with a current practicing certificate is preferable. Certificates in swim teaching, water treatment and chemical handling will also be an advantage.
