Job summary

Ministry of Justice in Wellington, New Zealand seeks an Application Engineer in the Case Services team to lead the build, test, release, deployment and configuration activities for applications. You will interact with customers, suppliers and staff to deliver high‑quality outcomes and support a collaborative environment.

Requirements include 1–2 years in application engineering or a related degree, and familiarity with Java, APEX, Oracle PL/SQL/SQL, JavaScript, ReactJS, PowerBI, and CI/CD

Qualifications

• 1–2 years as an application engineer or a related degree.
• Willingness to learn languages and frameworks listed (Java, APEX, Oracle PL/SQL/SQL, JavaScript).
• Experience or willingness to work with ReactJS, Apex Office Print AOP and PowerBI is advantageous.
• Experience handling incidents and change requests as part of BAU application support.
• Contributing to CI/CD and DevOps practices.
• Agile development and testing in product teams.

Responsibilities

• Implement build, test, release, deployment and configuration activities for applications.
• Collaborate with customers, suppliers and Ministry staff at all levels.
• Communicate effectively and build strong professional relationships across the organisation.
• Contribute to Continuous Integration and DevOps initiatives.
• Support BAU incidents and change requests as part of ongoing operations.
