Stats NZ, the national statistics office, is seeking a permanent Analyst Developer based in Wellington. You will join a cross-functional team delivering analytics solutions, data products and customer-facing applications, translating business needs into scalable technical capabilities.
You will work across the full development lifecycle with Python and R, supporting data collection, management and insights for stakeholders across government and the public sector.
We are looking for a permanent, Wellington-based Analyst Developer to join our team, reporting to the Manager Technology Delivery - Analytics. In this role, you will work as part of a collaborative, cross-functional team focused on delivering high-quality analytics solutions, data products, and customer-facing applications. You will be responsible for analysing business requirements, designing and developing technical solutions, managing quality assurance and testing activities, and supporting the ongoing optimisation of systems and services in production. Working closely with a wide range of stakeholders, you will translate business needs into scalable and sustainable technical capabilities that support the collection, management, analysis, and dissemination of data and information. The role will involve system analysis, solution design, software development, and operational support, ensuring our analytics platforms and applications continue to meet evolving business and customer needs. To be successful in this role, you will bring strong experience in analytics and software development, including working with Python and R, as well as package management practices and tools that support the development, deployment, and maintenance of analytical solutions. You will have a passion for developing robust, high-quality solutions and be comfortable working across the full development lifecycle in a collaborative, agile environment. As part of the Technology Delivery - Analytics team, you will contribute to the systems and platforms that manage incoming data, support analytical processes, and deliver valuable insights and statistical outputs to our customers and stakeholders.
