Job summary

Wellington Airport is seeking an aviation professional to join the Airfield Operations team as an Operations Coordinator. You will work in a rostered shift environment to ensure safety, compliance and efficient operation of the airfield.

Responsibilities include overseeing safety functions, inspections, wildlife hazard monitoring and enforcing procedures while maintaining regulatory obligations and incident investigations. A NZ Driver’s Licence and FRTO rating are advantageous.

About the role

We are looking for a motivated aviation professional to join our proactive, diverse and social operations team.

This opportunity will see you part of a team of Airfield Operations Coordinators who work in a rostered shift environment to ensure the safety, compliance and efficient operation of Wellington Airport’s airfield.

You will be:

• overseeing the aviation safety functions for airfield work projects
• carrying out airfield inspections and monitoring wildlife hazards
• dealing with road vehicle traffic related airside safety issues
• ensuring all regulatory requirements are maintained including CAA Part 139 obligations
• undertaking logging and investigations of airfield occurrences
• establishing and enforcing systems, processes and standard operating procedures for Wellington Airport.

About you

You have:

• a full clean NZ Driver’s Licence
• a strong safety-focus
• initiative and situational awareness

• navigating safety issues, considerations and best practices
• working autonomously
• multi-tasking

Ideally, you have:

• airside/aviation experience (or an aptitude for learning new things quickly)
• An FRTO rating
• knowledge of investigative techniques
• a passion for the aviation industry

As part of our standard pre-employment requirements, you must be able to obtain security clearance from Aviation Security Services, complete a Ministry of Justice background check, be full vaccinated against COVID-19 and pass a medical assessment and drug/alcohol test.
