Communication and Information Systems Officer

As a Communication and Information Systems Officer (CISO), you will be responsible for leading personnel and Information Communication Technology (ICT) systems to support operations wherever the RNZAF is deployed.

Responsibilities

Lead and manage teams of specialist CIS Technicians at an Air Force Base, providing communication support to RNZAF aircraft using satellite and radio systems.
Ensure your team is ready to deploy, equipment is serviceable, and personnel are trained and ready to perform their duties.
On deployment, manage your team to establish vital communication with headquarters, set up IT, satellite and radio networks supporting command, control, intelligence, logistics and communications.
Protect deployed networks from cyber threats, jamming and interception by adversaries, applying cyber‑defence and electronic warfare knowledge.
Engage with other military divisions and Other Government Agencies to ensure mission fulfillment.

Qualifications – Basics

At least 18 years of age upon completion of the RNZAF Officer Commissioning Course (ROCC).
Meets citizenship & security requirements for TSV security clearance.

Scholarship Entry

Scholarship Entry: The Air Force offers undergraduate scholarships for candidates who demonstrate the qualities required to become a CISO.

Scholars will study at an approved university, with the Air Force covering fees and a living allowance on a 'year for a year' return of service basis. Upon graduation, the scholar is required to serve 2 years in the Air Force.
