Job summary

Slalom NZ in Auckland is seeking a Machine Learning Architect to bridge strategy and hands-on delivery, shaping next-generation AI/ML solutions for client applications and integrations.

About the Role

As a Machine Learning Architect, you will bridge the gap between strategic vision and hands-on execution. You will be the architect behind next-generation AI/ML solutions, designing and implementing robust systems that integrate seamlessly into our clients' applications.

This is a highly impactful role where you will tackle complex business challenges using cutting-edge technologies. You will own the architecture of AI/ML solutions and drive innovation across modern Generative AI, agentic workflows and machine learning.

What you'll do

In this role, you will design and implement scalable, production-ready AI/ML solutions from the ground up, including LLM-powered applications, agentic workflows, retrieval and grounding patterns, and machine and deep learning solutions. You will leverage a modern tech stack, including TensorFlow, PyTorch, LangChain, LangGraph, MLflow, and Scikit-learn, to build and deploy robust models and intelligent applications, while collaborating closely with cross-functional product and engineering teams to transform complex business requirements into real-world AI capabilities.

What you'll bring

As a senior-level consultant in the AI/ML space, you'll bring a proven track record of designing and deploying production-grade AI and machine learning solutions, backed by a deep understanding of neural networks, modern Generative AI, and emerging agentic patterns. You possess hands-on expertise with modern frameworks and data platforms, alongside practical experience building LLM applications, retrieval-based solutions, tool integrations, and AI-enabled workflows.

Crucially, as a consultant, you combine this technical depth with a strong client-facing presence and high emotional intelligence; you are adept at managing diverse stakeholders, guiding clients through AI readiness, and acting as a trusted advisor. You bring exceptional analytical problem-solving skills to translate ambiguous business challenges into elegant, scalable architecture, coupled with the agility to pivot seamlessly between diverse industries, project scopes, and fast-paced client environments.
