Job summary

Gleeson Group is seeking a practical AI Adoption Specialist to join on a six-month fixed-term contract at Wiri, Auckland. You will identify opportunities for AI, select tools, and embed new workflows across the business.

You will translate AI capabilities into simple, usable solutions, train staff, create guides and procedures, support change, and help staff use tools safely and effectively.

Qualifications

• Experience implementing or supporting AI tools in a workplace.
• Strong knowledge of generative AI and business productivity tools.
• Ability to explain technical concepts in clear, practical language.
• Experience delivering training and supporting users with different skill levels.
• Understanding of information security, privacy and responsible AI use.
• Strong organisational and project-management skills.

Responsibilities

• Review processes to identify opportunities for AI implementation.
• Recommend practical AI tools matching business needs.
• Develop and implement AI-supported workflows and improvements.
• Collaborate with teams to trial, test and refine tools.

We operate quarry, aggregate supply yard and landfill operations in North Waikato, while providing aggregate supply, bulk haulage, spoil removal, cleanfill, managed fill and contaminated fill services throughout the Auckland region.

About the role

We are looking for a practical and engaging AI Adoption Specialist to join Gleeson Group on a six-month fixed-term contract.

This newly created role will help us identify, introduce and embed practical AI tools across the business. You will work closely with managers and employees to understand how they currently work, identify opportunities for improvement and help staff confidently use AI in their day-to-day roles.

This is a hands-on adoption and implementation role rather than a software development position. You will need to translate AI capabilities into simple, useful solutions for employees with varying levels of technical confidence.

Key responsibilities

• Review existing administrative and operational processes to identify opportunities for AI.
• Recommend practical AI tools that suit our business requirements.
• Develop and implement AI-supported workflows and process improvements.
• Work with teams to trial, test and refine new tools.
• Provide practical training, demonstrations and ongoing support to employees.
• Create clear user guides, templates and procedures.
• Help employees understand how to use AI safely, responsibly and effectively.
• Assist with the development of AI policies, privacy controls and usage guidelines.
• Monitor adoption and report on time savings, improvements and business benefits.
• Support the successful handover of implemented tools and processes at the end of the contract.

About you

You will be a confident communicator who can make technology easy to understand and help people feel comfortable with change.

Ideally, you will have:

• Experience implementing or supporting AI tools within a workplace.
• Strong knowledge of generative AI and business productivity tools.
• Experience reviewing workflows and improving business processes.
• The ability to explain technical concepts in clear, practical language.
• Experience delivering training and supporting users with different skill levels.
• An understanding of information security, privacy and responsible AI use.
• Strong organisational and project-management skills.
• A practical, solutions-focused approach.
• The confidence to work with employees across office, transport and operational environments.

Experience with Microsoft 365, Copilot, automation tools or transport-related businesses would be advantageous.
