Job description

Jora New Zealand will close on 9th September 2026. Thank you for being with us, we are cheering you on as you continue your career journey.

  • Use your mental health, wellbeing and social services expertise to support whānau experiencing complex challenges
  • Leverage your local stakeholder networks and community relationships to create lasting impact across Hawke's Bay
  • Permanent opportunity based in the Hawke's Bay region, plus 5 weeks' annual leave and insurance benefits

We're looking for an experienced Advisor Wellbeing Support to join our team supporting customers and whānau across the Hawke's Bay region, including Napier, Hastings and Central Hawke's Bay.

This is an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of our customers and their whānau by bringing your expertise in mental health, wellbeing, addiction, family harm, and community-based support services.

Working across a diverse range of stakeholders, you'll use your strong local networks and relationship-building skills to connect customers with the support they need and help strengthen wellbeing outcomes within the communities we serve.

You'll be part of a supportive team that values collaboration, professional expertise, and community partnerships. This role will suit someone who enjoys being out in the community, building trusted relationships, identifying opportunities for collaboration, and influencing positive outcomes for customers and whānau.

A key component of this role is partnering closely with Housing Support Managers to provide specialist advice and support on complex customer situations. Through facilitating case reviews, reflective practice sessions and collaborative problem-solving, you'll help build capability across the Housing Support team while ensuring customers and whānau are connected to the most appropriate support services and interventions. Your expertise will contribute to both positive customer outcomes and the ongoing development of frontline staff.

As this role supports customers and stakeholders across Napier, Hastings and Central Hawke's Bay, regular travel will be required. You'll enjoy meeting with community partners, attending stakeholder forums, and strengthening local networks to support positive wellbeing outcomes.

We're looking for someone with a strong background in supporting vulnerable individuals and whānau, who can confidently build partnerships and work collaboratively across community and government networks.

To be successful in this role, you'll bring:

  • Experience working with people experiencing complex wellbeing needs, including mental health challenges, addiction, family harm, housing instability, crisis situations, or other related social challenges.
  • Experience working alongside frontline practitioners to facilitate reflective practice, case reviews and professional development discussions. You'll be confident supporting Housing Support Managers to navigate complex customer situations, identify appropriate intervention pathways, strengthen connections with support services, and build capability through coaching, guidance and collaborative problem-solving.
  • A strong understanding of the mental health and social services sectors, including available supports, referral pathways, and community-based services.
  • Established stakeholder networks and the ability to develop and maintain trusted relationships with external agencies, community organisations, iwi, hapū, health providers and support services.
  • Strong advocacy, influencing and collaboration skills, with the ability to work alongside multiple agencies to support positive outcomes for customers and whānau.
  • Experience supporting, coaching or mentoring others in responding to complex customer situations and wellbeing concerns.
  • Demonstrated cultural awareness and the ability to work respectfully with people from diverse backgrounds, particularly Māori and Pasifika communities.
  • Exceptional relationship-building and communication skills, with a collaborative, strengths-based and empathetic approach.
  • Ideally, a background in mental health, addiction services, social work, community services, family violence prevention, housing support, corrections, nursing, counselling, psychology, or another relevant social services field.
  • A current, full and clean New Zealand Driver Licence, with the ability and willingness to travel regularly throughout the Hawke's Bay region.
