Job summary

Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is seeking a flexible Emergency Reception/Telephonist to cover planned and unplanned leave in a 24/7 service. The role includes answering calls, coordinating emergency responses, and providing administrative support with full training provided.

Shifts include 7:00am–3:30pm, 12:00pm–8:30pm, 3:00pm–11:00pm, and 11:00pm–7:00am, requiring adaptability to rostered hours and a commitment to excellent service.

About the Role

As part of a 24/7 service, this role requires flexibility to work a range of rostered shifts, to cover planned and unplanned leave. The role undertakes both Emergency Reception and Telephonist duties, with full training provided. The shifts are:

  • 7:00am - 3:30pm
  • 12:00pm - 8:30pm
  • 3:00pm - 11:00pm
  • 11:00pm - 7:00am

Key Responsibilities for this role are;

  • Managing incoming calls and responding to enquiries
  • Coordinating emergency response teams when required
  • Supporting hospital-wide emergency and alarm procedures
  • Performing administrative and computer-based tasks
  • Delivering high-quality service to patients, staff, and visitors

This role is covered by the terms and conditions of the PSA Collective, and the Pay Scale, determined on relevant experience.
