Job summary

Zenith Tecnica in Auckland, New Zealand, is seeking an Additive Manufacturing Technician to join our production team. You will work with Electron Beam Melting (EBM) metal 3D printing machines (training provided) and perform post-processing of critical components, with most time spent in the workshop.

The role requires practical hands-on work, attention to detail, and the ability to follow quality and safety procedures.

Qualifications

• At least 5 years experience in production, ideally as a fitter and turner or in a CNC machinist role.
• Attention to detail to deliver consistent, high-quality results.
• Hands-on with hand tools and power tools and good mechanical aptitude.
• Precision fettling and finishing of small, custom parts.
• Physically fit and energetic for a high work rate.
• Committed to Health and Safety and quality systems.
• Experience with quality control inspections and visual inspection tools.
• Experience with ERP systems and IT literacy to learn new software.
• Continuous improvement mindset and willingness to contribute ideas.
• Can-do attitude and team-focused collaboration.
• Clean NZ Driver's Licence.
• Eligible for US Export Control projects passport verification.
• Based in Auckland, onsite role.

Responsibilities

• Finish components and maintain machines in a busy production workshop.
• Perform 3D Scanning, inspection, and post-processing of critical parts.
• Handle goods outward and support calibration and quality checks.
• Operate Electron Beam Melting (EBM) printing equipment (training provided).
• Collaborate with team to meet customer requirements and improve processes.

The Role

This role is a key aspect of our production team and will involve hands-on work with our Electron Beam Melting (EBM) metal 3D printing machines (training provided) and post-processing of critical components.

With most of your time spent in the workshop, your time will be spent finishing components, as well as maintaining machines, 3D Scanning & inspection and handling goods outwards.

Metal 3D printing is a new field, and we don’t expect candidates to have prior specialised knowledge. We have an extensive training program to bring you up to speed and to become an Additive Manufacturing Technician in Electron Beam Melting.

About You

Key Requirements

At least 5 years experience in production, ideally as a fitter and turner or in a CNC machinist role.

Happy to tackle repetitive tasks, while at the same time having a high level of attention to detail to deliver consistent, high-quality results.

Hands-on person with proficient use of hand tools and power tools – and a good mechanical aptitude.

Thrive on precision fettling and finishing of small, custom made parts, with many unique features.

Physically fit and energetic, with the ability to keep up a high work rate in our busy production environment.

Care deeply about Health and Safety for yourself and your colleagues.

Experience with Quality systems, following standard processes and keeping accurate written records.

Ability to use visual inspection and tools for quality control inspections for compliance with specs.

Have experience with ERP systems and be IT savvy to learn new software as required.

Dedicated to continuous improvement, willing to listen and learn to improve yourself as well as contributing new ideas to process improvements.

Have a can-do attitude and be a team player, to assist our close-knit team to meet customer needs.

You will have a clean valid NZ Drivers License.

You must meet the requirements for working on specific projects for USA Government departments and passport verification will be required in line with US Export Control requirements.

You must be currently based in Auckland, New Zealand, as this is an onsite role.

Preventative and corrective maintenance of equipment and machines, including scheduling and management of spare parts inventory

Compliance with Quality Standards and certifications

Blasting, grinding, fettling or other metal finishing work

3D Scanning and inspecting

Production process troubleshooting
