Job summary

Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is seeking Occupational Therapy Assistants to work with Occupational Therapists on the adult acute mental health wards at Waikato Hospital.

You will contribute to recovery by delivering ward-based activities, running groups, and 1-to-1 interventions under supervision, with a focus on meaningful occupations and skill development for taangata whaiora and their whanau. A NZ driver's license is required.

Qualifications

• Experience in a health care setting.
• Experience in teaching or facilitating groups.
• Competency with te ao Māori, tikanga, and te reo Māori.
• Current full NZ driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Supporting the Occupational Therapist to provide opportunities to taangata whaiora in the development of new or existing life skills and/or vocational skills.
• Supporting the Occupational Therapist in the delivery of therapeutic groups.
• Providing high quality 1 to 1 interventions and group activities and programmes under the direction of the Occupational Therapist.
