Job summary

Health New Zealand - Te Whatu Ora - Southern in Auckland is seeking an Occupational Therapy Assistant to support the OT team with assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation for inpatients at Middlemore Hospital or the Manukau Surgical Centre.

You will work under supervision, gain training, and contribute to improving patients' occupational engagement. Remuneration is in line with PSA Allied Health MECA guidelines.

Qualifications

• An understanding of rehabilitation, illness, and disability.
• Health Care Assistant Level 4 qualifications or equivalent experience.
• Previous experience in a healthcare setting.
• Good written and verbal communication; excellent customer service.
• Computer literacy (Microsoft Office, Outlook).
• Full or restricted drivers licence.

Responsibilities

• Assist the occupational therapy team to provide assessment, treatment and rehabilitation to inpatients.
• Support inpatients at Middlemore Hospital or the Manukau Surgical Centre.
• Provide follow up service after discharge from hospital where appropriate.
• Receive supervision and training to develop and maintain skills for occupational engagement.
