Job summary

Toi Ohomai Institute of Technology in Tauranga is seeking an ASM - Barbering to teach on our Barbering programmes. You will teach in the classroom, tutor ākonga, review resources, set and mark assignments and contribute to recruitment and care of ākonga.

Travel between campuses within the rohe may be required; you will also help manage the training salons and actively promote Toi Ohomai's health and safety policies to support student outcomes and industry readiness.

Qualifications

• National qualification in Barbering or equivalent.
• 5+ years industry experience in barbering.
• In-depth knowledge of the barbering industry.

Job description

This position is for an ASM - Barbering in the School of Design, innovation and Service Industries. This role involves teaching on our Barbering programmes. As an Academic Staff Member within this team you will be required to teach in the classroom and tutor ākonga; research, review and update resources and classroom materials; set and mark assignments and enter results; assist with the recruitment and care of ākonga; and actively participate in the team and school environment. Travel between campuses within the rohe may be required.

• Managing the training salons
• Actively promoting and applying Toi Ohomai Institute of Technology Health and Safety policies
• National qualification in Barbering or equivalent
• A minimum of 5 years industry experience
• In depth experience and knowledge of the Barbering Industry
