Massey University – Te Kunenga ki Pūrehuroa on the Manawatū campus in Palmerston North is seeking an Academic Advisor. You will guide students through academic pathways, interpret regulations, and deliver one-on-one and group guidance to foster informed choices and success.

Your role combines subject expertise with strong communication to support diverse student journeys, ensuring retention and meaningful academic planning.

Qualifications

• A bachelor's degree is essential; a postgraduate qualification is an advantage.
• 3+ years' experience in advising, coaching, or guidance-based roles.
• Experience interpreting policies and complex information for clients.

Responsibilities

• Partner with students to co-create personalised academic pathways meeting qualification requirements.
• Support prospective and current students with complex academic planning and decision-making.
• Maintain a caseload of students, providing proactive, strengths-focused advising to support success and retention.
• Interpret and apply academic policies and regulations to real-world student scenarios.
• Deliver guidance through one-on-one sessions, group advising, and presentations.
• Collaborate with academic and professional staff to ensure a connected, supportive student experience.
