Job summary

Direction Recruitment is seeking an Accountant for a 3-month contract in Whangārei, NZ. The role involves supporting the Financial Controller, CFO and finance team with financial statements, invoices, and tax returns.

Key duties include GL reconciliations, monthly accounts, payroll checks, and AP/AR processing. Applicants should have a Bachelor's in Accounting or Finance (or equivalent) and at least 5 years of relevant experience, with strong attention to detail and discretion.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance preferred but not essential.
• At least 5 years' experience in a similar senior administrative role, ideally within the construction industry.
• Understanding of basic finance and accounting principles, as well as the month-end reporting cycle.
• Experience with payroll and knowledge of current legislation is preferred but not essential.
• Ability to produce accurate financial reports.
• Excellent time management and attention to detail.
• A high level of discretion, as the role involves handling sensitive information and data.
• The ability to work to strict time constraints.
• An organised and methodical approach to tasks.
• A team player with a can-do attitude who is willing to help wherever needed.
