Job summary

Spektrum supports apex buyers and their Tier 1 supplier ecosystem, delivering professional wargaming design for NATO JWC in Stavanger. We seek a Wargaming Designer/Developer to design, build, and refine serious wargames across all domains to test concepts and train leaders.

The role requires 3+ years in wargame design/delivery, multidisciplinary collaboration, and a bachelor's degree or higher. This is a full-time on-site position in Stavanger with some travel and security clearance expectations.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years designing/delivering professional wargames.
  • 1-3+ years multidisciplinary team experience, leadership role preferred at Senior Expert level.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent; certification in wargame design is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and deliver professional wargames within JWC's training environment.
  • Build scenario content across military domains (Land, Air, Space, Maritime, Cyber).
  • Gather sponsor requirements and translate into tailored wargame design.
  • Author wargame rules, adjudication procedures, scenario materials, and RFI responses.
  • Contribute to graphic design of wargame materials (maps, tokens, cards, visual aids).
  • Participate in test-play, in-progress reviews, and post-conduct analysis support.
  • Contribute to Wargaming Branch innovation and conceptual refinement

  • The JWC Wargaming Branch delivers NATO's leading-edge professional wargaming capability, designing bespoke strategic- and operational-level wargames that test concepts, inform doctrine, and train military leaders. We are seeking a Wargaming Designer/Developer to design, build, and refine serious/professional wargames - from scenario mechanics and rulebooks through visual game materials - tailored to sponsor trainingobjectivesacross all military domains.

  • Design, develop, and deliver professional wargames within JWC's 360-degree training environment
  • Build scenario content across military domains (Land, Air, Space, Maritime, Cyber) and command levels (political through tactical)
  • Gather and translate sponsor requirements into tailored wargame design
  • Author wargame rules, adjudication procedures, scenario materials, and RFI responses
  • Contribute to graphic design of wargame materials (maps, tokens, cards, visual aids)
  • Participate in test-play, in-progress reviews, and post-conduct analysis support
  • Contribute to Wargaming Branch innovation and conceptual refinement
EssentialSkills,Experienceand Certifications
  • 3+ years (in last 6) designing/developing/delivering professional wargames (Senior Expert), ordemonstratedwargame design/delivery experience (Expert)
  • 1-3+ years multidisciplinary team experience, leadership role preferred at Senior Expert level
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent
  • Certification in wargame design, or relevant wargaming coursework
  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Publisher, SharePoint)
  • Prior military experience a plus (not mandatory)
