Job summary

Spektrum supports NATO and allied clients by delivering wargaming and analytical services. The NATO Joint Warfare Centre (JWC) in Stavanger, Norway, seeks a Wargaming Analyst to bolster its analytical backbone for strategic and operational wargames.

The role requires 3+ years of multidisciplinary experience, familiarity with NATO doctrine, and strong report-writing skills. On-site work with occasional travel and eligibility for security clearance is expected.

Qualifications

• 3+ years multidisciplinary experience in planning, coordinating, designing, or analysing training/analytical events (wargames, TTXs, exercises, experiments).
• NATO OF-3 rank or above or civilian equivalent, OR Bachelor's/advanced degree in a relevant field.
• Demonstrated experience authoring detailed reports (project, exercise, or analytical).
• Familiarity with NATO or national military doctrine, policy, and processes.
• Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Publisher, SharePoint).

Responsibilities

• Develop research questions and analytical frameworks aligned to sponsor objectives.
• Author the Data Collection and Analysis Plan (DCAP), including survey design and data stream identification.
• Lead data collection during wargame development, execution, and post-conduct phases.
• Train and supervise analysis team members (data collectors, post-game analysts).
• Author wargame reports: hot wash-ups, after-action reviews, final/analysis reports.
• Support sponsor's internal analysis processes.
• Contribute to Wargaming Branch conceptual development and innovation.

Who we are supporting

The NATO Joint Warfare Centre (JWC), located in Stavanger, Norway, is NATO’s premier centre for joint operational and strategic-level collective training and warfare development. As part of the NATO Command Structure and reporting to Supreme Allied Commander Transformation (SACT), the JWC directly supports both SACT and Supreme Allied Commander Europe (SACEUR) by strengthening the operational readiness, interoperability, and effectiveness of NATO Command and Force Structure Headquarters. Through its multinational workforce, the Centre plays a critical role in preparing the Alliance for current and emerging security challenges.

The department we are supporting is responsible for the planning, preparation, and execution of operational and strategic-level exercises and training activities, while integrating warfare development, experimentation, concept development, and lessons learned into NATO's training programmes. By delivering technologically integrated, multi-domain exercises and maintaining joint doctrine and standards, the JWC enhances NATO's decision-making capabilities, interoperability, and warfighting readiness, ensuring the Alliance remains prepared to respond effectively across the full spectrum of military operations.
