Tech Lead – Shape the Future of Urban Life with Data & Code

Want to build cities with code? Plaace is building a platform that shapes urban life through data and software. As Tech Lead, you will be a master builder of our platform, laying the foundations for growth, designing features, and ensuring the different parts of our tech stack connect and thrive.

This role is for someone who wants to actively shape the architecture of a platform transforming how cities evolve.

About Plaace

Plaace is a fast-growing Norwegian tech scale-up on a mission to create vibrant streets and cities. Our platform combines analytics with data sources to power smarter, data-driven decisions. We collaborate with key data providers to access the data required to develop insights and are trusted by retailers, restaurants, gyms, service providers, the public sector, and major property owners.

The Opportunity

Join at a pivotal stage where foundations are laid and the company is growing. We have built a robust platform and secured over 100 Nordic customers. You will help build our new tech team and shape the development direction, challenging market players with user-friendly and effective solutions. You will be the hands-on Tech Lead for the Product-Led Growth (PLG) team, coding and guiding the team while owning the technical vision and ensuring alignment across teams. You will report to the CTO and collaborate with the COO on product strategy.

What you will be doing

• Hands-on work contributing to the codebase across the stack.
• Lead good practices for testing, CI/CD, and maintaining a clean, maintainable codebase.

Responsibilities

• Oversee architectural design to ensure systems are scalable, secure, and well-structured.
• Collaborate with designers, product managers, and commercial colleagues to balance customer needs with business goals.
• Shape the platform to be AI-friendly and ready for Product-Led Growth (PLG).

• You enjoy hands-on coding, write clean code, and want to shape a city through software.
• You can connect the frontend and backend and have architectural experience with system design, API design, and scaling infrastructure.
• Based in Oslo with a hands-on, empowering leadership style.
• You have experience mentoring or leading engineers and are collaborative.
• You take ownership, solve problems end-to-end, and balance short-term and long-term needs.

We build modern solutions with a focus on security and speed. You don’t need to know the entire stack from day one; a solid technical foundation, familiarity with common frameworks and languages, and a keenness to learn new technology are essential.
