Norsk Hydro Husnes is hosting a summer internship program for students, offering hands-on experience in modernization projects and operations optimization with support from experienced colleagues. Interns will work on projects related to emissions, energy conservation, process improvements, and environmental concerns, under supervision from the Electrolysis department's staff.

Hydro Husnes has approximately 375 employees and is located at the outermost part of the Hardangerfjord. Over the past few years, Hydro Husnes has invested around 2 billion Norwegian kroner to modernize the facility and double aluminum production to 200,000 tons.
The Electrolysis department has 130 permanent employees, divided among 5 shifts, support staff, and a day group. Due to the recent investments, we are currently in a phase of stabilization, competence enhancement, and the implementation of new systems and equipment. The staff work on monitoring and optimizing operations.
An internship in Hydro is a great way for you to try out and learn more about your field of study. You will obtain valuable experience, and you get to tackle relevant tasks and real challenges, with support from experienced colleagues. You will also get to participate in a joint program with all the Hydro summer interns, allowing you to learn more about our business and acquire interdisciplinary knowledge. All the while, we expect and want you to have a fun experience during the summer.

As part of the modernization, we have the potential to optimize both equipment and processes. We offer exciting project tasks related to operations, including topics such as emissions, environmental concerns, energy conservation, process improvements, and more. You will work together with other summer interns, and with technical supervisors from the department who will assist with one or more operations-related projects, involving field measurements, analysis, result evaluation, and improvement proposals.
