The internship program will run from 14 June to 13 August.

We’re looking for students who are curious about technology and innovation, up for a challenge, and a team player with strong communication skills to take part in our 2027 Summer Internship program.

Responsibilities

The Tolling Systems Development department works with developing software for our customers or for the other departments in Q-Free. The tasks in the system group are very varied and can range from integrating and calibrating new sensors, creating newapplications and large real-time solutions, or using AI to solve challenging tasks.

In the Systems group we work with several different technologies and programming languages like Java, C++, Python, image processing, signal processing, AI, and sensor system integration.

Some of the work we do in our Tolling Systems Development department:

• Software development: Design, develop, and maintain software running on the lane controllers and roadside systems
• System integration: Integrate roadside applications with sensor/equipment such as our tolling cameras, lasers, and DSRC readers
• Research and development
• System monitoring
• Maintenance and support

We are looking for candidates with an interest in one or more of the following fields:

• Computer Vision and Image Processing
• PyTorch and/or TensorFlow
• MLOps and Model Deployment

The internship period will be from 14 June to 13 August with two weeks’ vacation in week 28 and 29. The workplace is our headquarters in Trondheim.

Q-Free is part of a collaborative project in Trondheim called Workation. Workation offers a unique summer program, and all summer interns who join Q-Free in 2027 will have full and free access to these activities. Last summer, our summer interns were free to join activities such as volleyball and padel, kayaking, beer tasting, and more. Workation also offers a great arena to meet summer interns working for other companies and make new friends. This project will make sure that your summer internship in Trondheim will be one to remember.
