Job summary

Procore’s Product & Technology Team in Norway is seeking a Staff Backend Engineer (C#/C++) to shape the architecture powering BIM and construction-management solutions at scale. You’ll lead the design of high-performance backend systems written in Rust/C/C++, build scalable services, and drive reliability across global deployments.

You’ll mentor engineers, collaborate with product and frontend teams, and advance CI/CD, observability, and performance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
• 8+ years of professional experience building production-grade backend systems.
• Strong expertise in modern C++ (C++17/20 or later) and performance optimization.
• Experience designing distributed systems and microservices at scale.
• Deep understanding of multithreading, networking, and asynchronous programming.
• Experience with API design (REST/gRPC) and service-oriented architecture.
• Familiarity with containerized environments and cloud-native infra.
• Experience operating software at scale and driving long-term architectural strategy.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of high-performance backend systems in Rust/C/C++.
• Architect scalable distributed services aligned with microservices architecture.
• Own complex initiatives from concept to production with reliability and performance focus.
• Collaborate with Product, Frontend, Infrastructure, and Platform teams to deliver robust APIs.
• Promote engineering best practices in design, testing, and performance optimization.
• Drive architectural decisions for enterprise-scale customers across markets.
• Mentor senior and mid-level engineers with code reviews and design guidance.
• Anticipate scalability challenges and design proactive solutions.
• Contribute to CI/CD, observability, and operational excellence.
