Job summary

G2 is seeking a Software Engineering Director for Multimodal AI Products in London. You will lead the core team building agent-driven experiences, coordinating with product owners to define scope and deliverables. Qualifications

• 10+ years of professional programming experience in backend and application environments.
• 2+ years of experience directly managing engineers.
• Expert-level proficiency in Python or Typescript/Javascript; strong knowledge of FastAPI, Node, React, or Rails.
• Direct experience applying multimodal AI in content production or generation workflows.
• Hands-on experience building AI features using frontier models from major providers.
• Direct experience refining product requirements with a product owner.
• BS/BA degree in Computer Science or related field.

About The Role

Summary of Responsibilities:

As a Software Engineering Director, Multimodal AI Products, your responsibilities will center around our multimodal AI products & features which serve buyers & sellers in the software marketplace. You'll lead the core team behind these products. The team will enhance G2's content generation systems to take advantage of the advancements in multimodal agents & AI models' image and audio capabilities, and help bolster quality. You will use agentic engineering techniques and leverage "agent-first" ways of working to deliver your products and features.

Please note, this role is hybrid in London. Onsite in the London office 1-2 days a week

Detailed Responsibilities:

Build new products and features [80%]:

• Contribute across the full software stack to deliver agent-driven user journeys to production, owning implementation quality from architecture to release

• Design and build features driven by frontier models, with prompting, context, tools, and model reasoning to generate visual and audio experiences

• Apply software engineering and system design principles to produce solutions that are observable, maintainable, scalable, and production ready

• Validate solutions against functional requirements using evals and tracing to ensure content and experience quality is measured and monitored through metrics measured in CI and production

• Help drive product definition: ideate, explore, and prototype with stakeholders, then cut down possible options to arrive at deliverable, but well-rounded solutions

• Help conceive and ship features & MVP iterations early in the product definition phase that directly advance high-visibility organizational goals

• Partner with product owners to identify what technology makes possible, and what makes implementing a given product or feature hard. Bring that perspective into project scoping and prioritization

Lead a group of engineers and be a source of wider influence [20%]

• You will facilitate the growth and mentorship of a core team of engineers, and be a source of technical leadership and subject matter expertise on multimodal AI for them

• Direct experience applying multimodal (audio, image) AI in content production or generation workflows

• Hands-on experience building AI and agent-powered features using frontier models from OpenAI, Google, and others beyond text generation use cases to include multimodal (image, audio) generation

• Direct experience refining product requirements in collaboration with a product owner

• Regular use of coding agent harnesses like Claude Code, Codex, Opencode, or Pi as part of the daily software development workflow
