Job summary

The Institute of Energy Technology (IFE) in Kjeller, Norway, seeks a motivated senior researcher with expertise in Applied Nuclear Technology, irradiation technologies and neutron-based systems. You will generate and lead new research initiatives, secure funding, and develop commercially relevant services based on radiation science.

The role collaborates with industrial partners to translate discoveries into practical solutions.

Qualifications

• PhD (or equivalent) in Nuclear Engineering, Applied Nuclear Physics, Radiation Science, Experimental Nuclear Physics or a related field.
• Preferably 5–10 years of relevant experience after PhD.
• Demonstrated track record of externally funded R&D project generation and collaboration with industry.
• Strong emphasis on health, safety and radiation protection compliance.
• Excellent communication in oral/written English; Norwegian or willingness to learn is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead new research initiatives and secure funding from national, European, and industrial sources.
• Develop commercially relevant services based on irradiation technologies and radiation science.
• Collaborate with industry partners to translate research into practical applications.
• Develop and expand the capabilities of radioactivity laboratories and related facilities.
• Oversee project teams and ensure timely delivery of results.
