About the Opportunity
We are proud to be recruiting on behalf of one of our valued clients. They are seeking a Senior Primary Design Engineer to play a pivotal role in driving technical excellence and ensuring the successful delivery of complex international projects.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate remote global engineering teams within the Vernova Global Engineering Centre.
- Deliver high-quality and timely engineering outputs across multiple project phases.
- Take ownership of primary plant designs for HV/EHV substations (AIS, GIS, and HVDC where applicable).
- Develop and review fully integrated 3D models, general arrangement drawings, section drawings, and layout designs.
- Review and approve vendor drawings and specifications, ensuring alignment with customer and project standards.
- Ensure compliance with Norwegian regulations, including FEF 2006, FSE 2006, NEK standards, and Statnett/DSO technical requirements.
- Apply best practices for design safety, quality assurance, and governance throughout the project lifecycle.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams – civil, protection & control, system studies, valves, and building services – to deliver a fully integrated substation design.
- Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior engineers.
- Liaise with clients, stakeholders, and suppliers to resolve technical queries.
- Represent the client in technical discussions with Norwegian customers, ensuring alignment with local expectations.
Qualifications and Experience
- Degree in Electrical, Power, or Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent).
- 7–10 years’ experience in HV substation design preferred. Candidates with a minimum of 3 years of strong technical experience are also encouraged to apply.
- Strong understanding of Norwegian Transmission and Distribution networks, including Statnett and regional grid operators.
- Proficiency in CAD tools; knowledge of BIM/3D tools (Revit, Navisworks) is an advantage.
- Proven track record in substation design across both tender and execution phases.
- Excellent communication skills in both Norwegian and English, with the ability to engage effectively with clients and stakeholders.
