Job description
Overview

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Senior Functional Safety (SIL) Engineer to join our Technical Safety & Environment Team and contribute to the safe design of offshore and land-based facilities in the energy, process, or manufacturing sectors. You will play a key role in ensuring compliance with international safety standards such as IEC 61508 and IEC 61511 across our project portfolio. You will be Wood Norway’s ‘go-to’ within the field of Functional Safety, and with a strong technical background, you will help us shape how we deliver Functional Safety and provide support to discipline engineers.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and support functional safety lifecycle activities for safety instrumented systems (SIS) in Projects.
  • Coordinate and participate in LOPA analyses and similar SIL allocation exercises
  • Develop and review Safety Requirements Specifications (SRS)
  • Conduct SIL verification, reliability assessment and support audits related to functional safety compliance
  • Follow-up of suppliers and 3 rd Parties
  • You will provide training and guidance within the field of Functional Safety
  • You will build up a network within Global Wood within the field and keep abreast of industry developments within Norway
  • You will lead a multi-discipline internal competence group with the field to develop internal processes, procedures and tools with the field
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering (Electrical, Automation, Process, or similar)
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in functional safety engineering
  • Strong knowledge of IEC 61508 / IEC 61511 standards and similar
  • Good collaboration and communication skills
  • Experience in functional safety requirements for machinery is desirable but not essential
  • Experience from Equinor Project is desirable, but not essential
  • Certification within Functional Safety is Desirable, but not essential
  • Proficient in English, orally and written. Norwegian language desirable but not essential
