Job summary

Cititec is seeking a Senior Front Office Developer to design and build front‑office tools supporting trading teams across power, gas and wider energy markets. You will work closely with traders and commercial teams to translate immediate business requirements into robust software solutions.

You’ll develop front‑office applications, dashboards, and workflow automation, while integrating market data and calculation engines.

Senior Front Office Developer / Trading Tools Developer

London (Onsite/Hybrid)

Cititec are working with a global energy and commodities trading organisation that is strengthening its front-office engineering capability across power, gas, renewables and LNG. They are looking for an experienced Front Office Developer to work closely with traders and commercial teams, building the tools and technology that support day‑to‑day trading, optimisation and decision‑making. This is a hands‑on role for someone comfortable sitting close to the desk, understanding an immediate business requirement and turning it into a clean, reliable technical solution at pace.

The Role

You’ll be responsible for designing and developing front‑office tools and applications that support trading teams across power, gas and wider energy markets.

Typical responsibilities include:

• Working directly with traders and commercial teams to understand requirements and build practical technology solutions
• Developing front‑office applications, analytical tools, dashboards and workflow automation
• Building tools supporting trading decisions, optimisation, hedging calculations and other desk‑based processes
• Integrating market data and information from internal and external sources
• Building data ingestion, processing and transformation capabilities
• Integrating tools with calculation engines, optimisers and existing trading platforms
• Developing rapid tactical solutions while maintaining clean, reliable and maintainable engineering standards
• Helping move locally developed and point‑to‑point solutions towards more reusable and scalable technology
• Contributing to the development of common backend capabilities that simplify the creation and maintenance of front‑office tools
• Exploring the use of AI and modern analytical techniques where appropriate
• Working effectively in a fast‑moving environment where priorities and requirements can change quickly

What We’re Looking For

• Strong hands‑on development skills in Python and C#, with experience building front‑office, trading or analytical tools.
• Experience working directly with traders, analysts or commercial teams and translating business requirements into practical solutions.
• Strong understanding of energy or commodities trading, ideally power and gas, although other commodity experience may also be relevant.
• Experience with market and trading data, including data integration, processing and transformation.
• Experience building dashboards, analytical applications, optimisation, calculation or hedging tools.
• Strong software engineering fundamentals, including clean, maintainable and scalable design.
• Comfortable working at pace in a fast‑moving trading environment with changing priorities.
• Experience with ETRM platforms, pricing or optimisation systems would be beneficial
