Job summary

Aker Solutions is seeking a Senior Data Scientist to join our Oslo or Stavanger team, working on AI-driven solutions to transform energy infrastructure.

You will build, test and deploy AI/ML models, collaborate with domain experts, and translate complex ideas into user-friendly tools while advancing your capabilities across the organization.

Qualifications

• Master's degree or higher in Computer Science, Data Science, Software Engineering, Mathematics or Statistics.
• Experience designing, training, and deploying LLMs and VLMs.
• Strong Python programming and production-grade solution development.
• Experience with PyTorch, TensorFlow and scikit-learn, plus tooling like FastAPI.
• Experience on cloud platforms (Azure AI Foundry/ML/OpenAI) and MLOps practices.
• Experience with data pipelines, Pandas, Spark and SQL; strong English communication; Norwegian is a plus.

• Develop, test and deploy AI and ML solutions creating measurable business value.
• Explore opportunities, build proofs-of-concept and identify practical AI applications.
• Collaborate with domain experts and stakeholders to translate challenges into scalable solutions.

We are now looking for a Senior Data Scientist to join our team in our Oslo or Stavanger offices.

What will you be doing?

You'll be responsible for experimenting, developing and maintaining AI solutions, and providing support and improvements to users. Ideal candidates have a strong understanding of machine learning, excellent development skills and the ability to translate complex technical concepts into user-friendly language.

• Develop, test and deploy AI, machine learning and data-driven solutions that create measurable business value across Aker Solutions


• Explore new opportunities, build proof-of-concepts and help identify practical applications of AI in engineering, project execution and operational environments


• Collaborate with domain experts, developers and business stakeholders to translate challenges into scalable technical solutions


• Improve, maintain and monitor existing AI solutions to ensure reliability, performance and a positive user experience


• Contribute across a broad range of AI initiatives, including predictive analytics, computer vision and emerging AI technologies such as agentic AI


• Support knowledge sharing, promote best practices and help strengthen AI capabilities across the organisation

We think you should have:

• A master's degree or higher in Computer Science, Data Science, Software Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics or related fields


• Experience designing, training, fine-tuning, evaluating, and deploying Large Language Models (LLMs) and Vision Language Models (VLMs)


• Strong programming skills in Python and experience building production-grade solutions using frameworks such as FastAPI, Flask, and Streamlit


• Hands-on experience with modern machine learning frameworks including PyTorch, TensorFlow, scikit-learn, and experiment tracking tools such as TensorBoard and MLflow


• Experience developing and deploying AI solutions on cloud platforms such as Azure AI Foundry, Azure Machine Learning, or Azure OpenAI


• Knowledge of MLOps practices including CI/CD, model versioning, automated testing, monitoring, observability, and model lifecycle management


• Experience working with structured and unstructured data, feature engineering, data pipelines, and data processing frameworks such as Pandas, Spark, and SQL


• Fluent written and spoken English with the ability to communicate complex ideas clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Norwegian language skills are considered an advantage
