Job summary

Nordic Batteries in Kongsberg (partly remote) seeks a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to lead mechanical design and system engineering of battery packs, delivering robust 3D designs and documentation for automated manufacturing.

You will report to the Head of Production, drive design for assembly, and guide cross-functional teams in a fast-growing scale-up environment. Norwegian language skills and collaboration with suppliers are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Proven experience in product and system design.
• Strong Design for Assembly and automated production knowledge.
• Solid 3D CAD experience, preferably Siemens NX.
• Experience in 3D printing and sheet metal design.
• Some thermal and structural analysis/simulations experience.
• PLM experience (Teamcenter or equivalent).
• 3–5 years in battery or electro-mechanical systems (preferred).
• Ability to work independently and in cross-functional teams.
• Excellent written and verbal communication in Norwegian and English.
• Strong track record in developing new products from requirements.

Responsibilities

• Create and maintain 3D designs of complex battery systems within a PLM environment (NX / Teamcenter).
• Design components and develop optimized assemblies for automated manufacturing.
• Prepare technical documentation and product-related documentation.
• Perform thermal and structural analyses/simulations to optimize designs.
• Validate designs and simulation results through physical testing.
• Build and maintain relationships with suppliers and subcontractors.
• Assist production in receival control and assembly of prototypes.
• Collaborate with engineers to ensure systems meet requirements.
• Document and present designs and technical results.
