Job summary

Vinted is hiring a Senior Backend Engineer II for the Agent Platform team. You will own complex backend problems, including identity, permissions, sandboxed execution, and memory for the internal AI agent platform.

Translate ideas into production, mentor teammates, and help shape the roadmap while supporting internal users on a bi-weekly on-duty rotation. The role is part of a hybrid work model in Europe with a strong focus on scalable backend design.

Responsibilities

• Design and build the backend runtime behind Vinted’s agent platform on Kubernetes and AWS.
• Create primitives for agents: sandboxes, coding harnesses, multi-step workflows, and memory management.
• Ensure safe access to internal systems via identity and access controls (Okta).
• Develop self-service capabilities for teams to create/run agents.
• Lead technical initiatives from idea to production with RFCs and architecture decisions.
• Mentor engineers and participate in on-duty rotation (every six weeks).

Information about the position

We're hiring a Senior Backend Engineer II for the Agent Platform team at Vinted. Agent Platform (formerly V-Assist) is Vinted’s internal AI agent platform. Employees use it to find information, navigate internal systems and build their own agents that take on real work. It’s becoming the backbone of Vinted’s AI adoption strategy, from engineering productivity to data discoverability and back-office operations.

As a Senior Backend Engineer II, you'll own the platform’s most complex problems end to end, from agent identity and permissions to sandboxed execution and agent memory, and help shape the team’s roadmap.

In this position, you’ll

• Design and build the backend runtime behind Vinted’s agent platform on Kubernetes and AWS.
• Build the primitives agents run on: isolated sandboxes, coding harnesses, multi-step agent workflows, agent memory, and managing agents and skills at runtime.
• Give agents safe access to internal systems: agent identity and delegated user access built on Okta, MCP integrations with BigQuery, GitHub, Slack, Atlassian and other tools.
• Develop self-service capabilities so teams can create and run their own agents.
• Lead technical initiatives from idea to production: write and drive RFCs, make architecture decisions, and keep what you deliver reliable and observable once it’s live.
• Raise the bar for engineering and agentic development by mentoring engineers in the team and beyond.
• Participate in the on-duty rotation supporting our internal users, currently once every six weeks.

About you

• Proficient in backend engineering and system design, preferably with Python, Ruby, Go, or Rust.
• Demonstrated experience in designing, building, and scaling backend systems or internal platforms for multiple teams.
• Thorough understanding of distributed systems, concurrency, and the underlying infrastructure.
• Pragmatic architect focused on scalability and extensibility from the outset, with a keen sense of when to incur technical debt.
• Security-conscious: prioritize authentication, authorization, least-privilege access, and auditing in your designs.
• Frequent user of AI coding tools, actively supporting others in maximizing their use.
• Effective communicator, capable of articulating technical trade-offs to both engineers and non-technical stakeholders.
• Preferred: experience with running LLM platforms in production (agent development, MCP integrations, retrieval, evaluations).
• Bonus: familiarity with AWS, Kubernetes, or similar infrastructure.
