Job summary

Metrea seeks a senior platform engineer to lead the design and operation of secure, scalable Azure platforms for UK teams, shaping our DevSecOps practices and automation. You will mentor engineers and collaborate across software, platform, and security groups to deliver reliable services in a defense-focused environment.

You will manage CI/CD pipelines, IaC, and containerized workloads with Docker and AKS, while driving observability and cost-aware decisions.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in a senior platform, cloud, DevOps, or infrastructure engineering role supporting business-critical services.
• Strong hands-on experience designing, deploying, and operating Microsoft Azure environments, including networking, identity, compute, storage, monitoring, and governance.
• Deep experience with Azure DevOps or GitHub for source control, CI/CD pipelines, release management, deployment automation, and environment controls.
• Proven experience delivering infrastructure as code using Bicep, Terraform, ARM templates, or similar technologies.
• Strong understanding of Docker, Kubernetes, and Azure Kubernetes Service, including scalable, resilient deployment patterns.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and operation of secure, reliable Azure platforms for UK teams.
• Own CI/CD standards, pipelines, and deployment automation across platform and application workloads.
• Architect and manage Azure infrastructure using infrastructure as code (IaC).
• Build and optimise containerised workloads using Docker and AKS.
• Define observability standards using Azure-native and third-party tools.
• Implement DevSecOps practices, including shift-left security and secrets management.
• Troubleshoot complex infrastructure, networking, identity, security, and pipeline issues.
• Advise software, platform, and support teams on Azure architecture and automation.
• Drive cost-aware platform decisions using metrics and capacity trends.
• Mentor engineers and foster a collaborative DevSecOps culture.
